Orchard Toys Llamas in Pyjamas Review

Reviewed by Katie Allen

We’ve been lucky enough to receive a couple of Orchard Toys Games as birthday and Christmas presents and my 4-year-old daughter loves them, so when an opportunity to review Llamas in Pyjamas came up I jumped at it.

The game arrived in a small box which would make it perfect to take on holiday or to while away hours on planes or ferries etc. It is suitable for children age 3-6 years and 2-4 players. There were a number of llama tops and bottoms to separate from their cardboard holders as well as some alarm clocks and a bedroom scene.

It’s an easy game to play. First of all, players choose one pair of llama pyjama bottoms. The remaining cards are shuffled and placed face down in a stack. The youngest person goes first and picks a card from the top of the stack. Play continues with everyone selecting a card and either matching up the pyjama sets, missing a turn if they don’t match or putting together the “bedroom scene”. If an alarm clock is selected a whole llama must be added to the reject pile.

The winner is the person who has the most whole llamas when the bedroom scene is complete.

My four-year-old loved this game immediately and the rules were really easy for her to pick up. It is great to have a game that’s fun to play with all the family.

From an educational aspect preschool children will enjoy the matching of colours and patterns of pyjamas, counting the numbers of whole llamas and determining who has the most and completing the bedroom scene by putting four cards together like a jigsaw. It helps develop matching and memory skills, encourages observational skills and helps to develop personal and social skills.

I look forward to adding more Orchard Toys games to our growing collection.
