Breath of the Gods
A Journey to the Origins of Modern Yoga

A DVD that delves in to the history of Modern Yoga, the documentary follows the life of T. Krishnamacharya and the development of his Yoga style. There are interviews with his family, pupils and black and white footage of the most outstanding yoga poses.

It is an interesting tale of Krishnamacharya’s life and gives an insight in to life as it was for his children. As it is filmed in India there is a far amount of subtitles and at times it was hard to concentrate. I haven’t practiced Yoga for some years but this has definitely reignited my interest. A more dedicated Yoga goer would probably have a strong interest in this DVD and would find it a lot more relevant.

The documentary style of the DVD worked and it was fun to see the director Jan Schmidt-Garre being taught various poses.
