What Would Beyonce Do?
Lowry Theatre, Manchester
Reviewed by Rebecca Singleton
This fast paced one woman comedy saw the quick talking polish descendant Luisa Omielan taking us on a journey through her adult life, after graduating from Salford University with first class honours she found life was a little less exciting than she had imagined so when faced with what life threw at her she decided to think ‘What would Beyonce do?’
She touches on sometimes cringe worthy subjects including her sexual relationships with men, she pokes fun at her families history and general day to day life. Her sassy no hold back approach sees a lot of swearing and graphic descriptions making for belly clutching laughter from the audience.
I found Luisa Omielan to be refreshingly engaging with the audience thrilling us with her sexy dance moves, wit and her no holds bar approach making it an inspiringly honest performance. I would recommend this show, it does however need a bit of the bleep factor for the amount of swearing it contains as it sometimes overshadows the points Luisa is trying to get across.
A thoroughly enjoyable night!
