These delightful and informal master-classes in the art of chocolate making and cocktail shaking are offered in the cool and welcoming setting of Gusto Restaurant and Bar in Cheadle Hulme. We had a very entertaining afternoon taking part within a group of people.

Firstly we made chocolates with the expert tuition of Oliver, the son of Simon Dunn Chocolatier. He talked us through step by step, of how to make the most delicious chocolates with plain, milk and white Belgian chocolate. We even got to bring them home in a lovely presentation box. Although mine were quite uniform, but not perfect. Al's looked like a week’s worth of cat poo I am afraid to say! This gave us all a giggle (there was around 10 in our group).

Next we were shown over to the bar where Terry was the very knowledgeable bartender in charge of the cocktail making. We were each asked to select one we would like to make, I chose Cosmopolitan and Al wanted a Long Island Ice Tea. There was a good choice of cocktails on the menu including some non-alcoholic ones. One by one we went behind the bar and made the drink of our choice. It was very interesting to see exactly how they are put together as I feel when I am out partying and order a cocktail you don't really pay attention to how they are actually made. It was fun and everybody joined in happily. I learnt a few things that I will be putting into practice at home in the future!

This was a fun-filled afternoon and would make an excellent treat for a group of friends wanting to try something different or a children’s birthday. There was a couple of little girls in our group who thoroughly enjoyed the messy chocolate making and the very grown up cocktail shaking.

Gusto is a very relaxed Bar and the staff are friendly and efficient.  Offered at a good price too of £20 pound for both classes.

A box of choccies to take home and a cocktail at the bar – what more could you want?  A bargain. Go and try it you will not be disappointed.
