La Tasca Liverpool Review
La Tasca
Liverpool
Review by Helen Clarry
A lovely meal at La Tasca Liverpool! We went on a Saturday at 12.00 for lunch. It wasn’t a great start as it looked like they had only just opened and were still mopping the floors, so the smell of bleach wasn’t very appetising. It also looked like the staff were having a team meeting at the bar, so the customers were waiting a while before it finished and the waiters came to take drink orders. However when our waiter Carlos came over he was very friendly, informative, and prompt.
From the menu he recommended the Slow-Cooked Pork Cheeks – pork cheeks are not something I’d normally order as I thought they would be tough and fatty, however he assured us they were meaty, tender, and what fat there was would melt in the mouth – and he wasn’t wrong! They were delicious! We also enjoyed Chorizo and Morcilla (chorizo and Spanish black pudding), Langostinos (tiger prawns), Patatas Bravas (fried potato in spicy tomato sauce), Empanadas de Carne (puff pastry parcels filled with spicy minced beef and regato cheese), and Pescado Blanco Frito (deep fried white fish in San Miguel batter with paprika and roasted garlic mayonnaise) and I can honestly say we ate every single crumb!
Carlos also recommended we try their new summer Sangria – again I wouldn’t normally order Sangria as I don’t like red wine, but this one was white wine based with pineapple juice and chunks of fresh fruit in (apples, pineapple, lemon). It was very refreshing and summery. Carlos recommended the chocolate fondant for dessert which was also delicious – intensely chocolaty with a warm, crusty outer shell and soft gooey centre.
All in all we had a lovely meal – good food, good service, nice decor and atmosphere. We were also alerted to their special occasions – Family Sunday’s with games and face-painting for children, and party night on a Friday with live music and flamenco dancing – both of which we’d be keen to try. We’d rate La Tasca Liverpool 4 out of 5.
