We booked a table for 2 adults and one child at 5.15pm on a Friday teatime and when we arrived the restaurant was quite quiet with amazing floor to ceiling glass doors/walls and clean, sparkly bright setting.
The manager Vicky greeted us and we were sat at a booth and provided with menus and a children’s menu.
There was a wide range of delicious sounding dishes, from burgers to noodles, to steaks, to meze’s, to salads and schnitzel with a range of sides to go alongside.
Firstly we ordered our drinks and my son’s apple juice came in a plastic cup with a lid, straw and a giraffe cocktail type decoration, he loved this and immediately started playing. We were provided with a colouring sheet and crayons (which all worked!)
Our waitress, Reena suggested I ordered the apple and elderflower martini from the cocktail menu for that Friday feeling, happily persuaded I can honestly say it was amazing and worth going back to just for another!! They have a bar buddy ½ price offer from 5-7 Friday to Sunday where selected beers, cocktails and wine is half price.
Our waitress was very helpful and they were happy to give us plenty of time to discuss what we wanted, especially as my 3 year old was having a mini-meltdown about wanting chicken and pizza! However, we finally made our choices and when we ordered garlic bread, suggested the alternative of garlic focaccia chips with marinara dipping sauce to share. Being a big fan of seafood I ordered the crunchy coconut shrimp, which was delicious! My partner ordered the Chicken Potstickers, which again were very tasty!!
My son had the popcorn chicken and fries with Heinz baked beans which he told me ‘this is very nice Mummy’ and proceeded to eat it all up!! The children’s deal is £4.95 for a drink and main.
I chose the parmesan chicken schnitzel kiev with garlic and herb butter, mash, rocket and roasted lemon which was very well cooked and enjoyable and my partner ordered the leg of lamb steak with salsa verde and fries, again well cooked and very tasty.
As my partner has a nut allergy he asked the waitress to check and they had a specific allergy chart, which was great to keep our minds at rest!
The menu also had a great range for vegetarians such as Edameme beans, Soup, Yakitori asparagus, Mezze, Roasted Vegetable and Black Bean Burrito and Jambalaya risotto.
Even though we were pretty full we shared some puddings, with my son ordering the 99 Sundae and we ordered the Lemon Meringue Drizzle Sundae and the chocolate éclair cake, both of which were very moreish and fun puddings!
All the time we were there the staff couldn’t have been more helpful, I would definitely recommend paying Giraffe a visit, it’s the perfect place to take your children and still feel like you are treating yourself to a delicious meal, with lots of healthy and vegetarian options too.
Giraffe Café also do a breakfast and brunch menu and one way or another we will be going back very soon!
