Having never been to T.G.I. Friday’s before our family were looking forward to the treat of a meal out. We booked via the website. I was initially apprehensive about this as prefer to book over the phone but the website was very easy to use. The website also allows you to inform the restaurant if you are celebrating anything whilst there so they can aid your celebration.

The T.G.I. Friday’s in Coventry is located on the outskirts of the south east of Coventry and easy to get to with a large car park. We went for dinner on a Thursday at around 5.30pm and expected it to be quiet, however it wasn’t and it gave the place a good atmosphere with good music on in the background. On arrival we were very quickly seated and introduced to our waiter Reece. He was friendly, polite and informative around the menu.

We went as a family with our three children one being a baby, we were presented a very clean high chair for him to sit in. The main theme we had of service at T.G.I. Friday’s was ever so quick. We are used to having to wait a long time between course at other restaurants which can be hard work with children who get bored but at T.G.I. Friday’s they barely got chance to play with the colouring pack they were given. They were also given some balloon models to play with, the children found this so exciting and really made the meal for them.

For starters we ordered three to share amongst the five of us, we has garlic ciabatta bread with Monterey jack cheese, mozzarella dippers and Jack Daniel sesame chicken strips. The food was delicious and we find it fun to share and for the children to have some of what the adults were having.

Our mains arrived swiftly, we adults chose to have burgers, a cheeseburger deluxe and a veggie burger. If there was any fault to be had with T.G.I. Friday’s it would be the lack of vegetarian options on the menu. The burgers were big on the plates, the cheeseburger was juicy and succulent, the veggie burger was flavoursome and the dipping sauce was a lovely added touch. The children ordered fish fingers and pasta from the children’s menu. There was an error with the wrong potatoes being brought out with the fish fingers but Reece summoned us the right side and let the children keep the extra fries which they were very happy about.

T.G.I. Friday’s has an extensive cocktail list I’d love to explore when without the children but their bottomless drinks were great value and they kept them topped up well throughout the meal without us even needing to ask.

The children can always find room for an ice cream so they both had an ice cream sundae and I and my wife shared a slice of cookie dough cheese cake. The cheese cake was divine, the base was very thin making rooms for a deep deep topping which was just so yummy, really topped off the meal well.

The restaurant is decorated with lots of artefacts on the walls, like skateboards, surf boards, traffic lights, lots of random things we enjoyed a little explore with the children looking at everything and playing eye spy. As we were finished the meal it was getting busier and there was a more adult feel around the bar area so we felt that as a family choosing the earlier seating was a good call.

Having never been before to T.G.I. Friday’s I had always been under the impression it was an expensive place to eat but we found it very reasonable, there are menus where you can eat from as little as £9.99 for two courses Monday to Thursday. The food doesn’t taste cheap it tastes like well-cooked quality food. We can’t wait to return.

Rating: 5/5 thumbs_up
