Myself, my husband, our 4 children (girls aged 13 and 5, boys aged 3 and 2) visited this American style restaurant on Monday 20 July 2015.

We arrived at Crawley Leisure Park and my husband dropped us off as parking right next to T.G.I is virtually impossible. At any time of day, parking isn’t great here as there are so many places to eat or be entertained at that finding a space can be problematic. Access through the car park is good though.

We had booked a table for 5.15pm and were seated shortly after we arrived at the venue.

We were seated in a booth, which if it were a group of adults I would have said it was uncomfortably snug. However it was perfect for my children as, in most restaurants the booths are spacious and the children cannot reach the table. Here, they could reach easily.

We sat down with our menus (we were a bit disappointed at the lack of colouring etc… for the children) – the children’s menus were great, two sections, one for big appetites, and the other for smaller children. The adult menu, had plenty of choice and the additional bonus of a Mon-Thur deal on 2 courses for £9.99.

Our order was taken very quickly after we arrived, we were ready to order our food as well as our drinks when the waiter arrived.

The food came out fairly quickly, although the lack of things to do for the children made it seem like forever.

We asked for our starters and mains to come altogether as my husband and I had ordered starters and the children had not.

My husband had ordered the mozzarella sticks and the chicken fingers, I had the mozzarella sticks and Cajun chicken quesadillas. Three of my 4 children ordered margarita pizza and the eldest ordered the meat feast.

On the way to our table one piece of pizza was dropped on the floor, this piece never arrived at our table but was very quickly replaced with a fresh one.

Considering the prices (I would say quite expensive at first glance) the portion sizes are very generous. However, the children’s servings weren’t so generous. The pizzas came from the older children menu and I personally didn’t think they were very big.

The food was very tasty and I couldn’t have faulted it. All of the items we ordered arrived hot on preheated plates and in good time.

After our dinner we used the facilities, my elder son and I used the disabled as it is roomier for two! All was going well until he jumped to use the hand soap and it squirted out all in his eyes!

We quickly rushed back into the restaurant and asked a waitress for a damp cloth, she disappeared off to the kitchen for a couple of minutes and came back to tell us the manager would be with us as she had been called.

The manager arrived with some eye bath, some tissue and an eye patch. She advised us how she would use the eyebath on our son but he expressed a wish for me to bathe his eye and not the manager of TGI. The manager allowed me to bathe my son’s eye and was incredibly kind. Trying to reassure him that she knew it was painful as she had done it too but all would be ok.

We didn’t stay for dessert this time as my son said his eye hurt too much and he wanted to go home. From the look of the children’s menu, the ones available to them looked good. My husband and I never caught sight of an adult dessert menu as these were not offered in the dinner menu we were seated with.

All in all I would say the restaurant was clean (except the ketchup squirted up the wall of where we were sat) and welcoming. The staff were helpful and accommodating and knowledgeable about the menu.

I would go back, just probably without the children.

Rating: 4.5/5
