The Device is a psychological sci-fi thriller about alien abduction.

2 estranged sisters, Abby (Angela DiMarco) and Rebecca (Kate Alden) are meeting for the first time in years to scatter the ashes of their mother at the lake next to a secluded cabin from their childhood. 12 years earlier the cabin was the setting for a terrible event that the younger sister, Rebecca, is still getting counselling for.

While out in the woods they come across the remnants of what Abby thinks is a plane crash and then finds a mysterious black ball, The Device.

Curious as to what it may be Abby takes it back to the cabin where her soon to be husband, Calvin (David S. Hogan), is fascinated by it and won’t leave it alone.

Abby starts to be plagued by weird nightmares features very tall alien and things start to take a turn for the worst with past secrets coming out.

Will the device bring about good chance or is it the key to an alien invasion?

Overall, I found The Device to be a mediocre alien abduction film that left too many questions unanswered. While the film starts off ok building the characters stories and past problems it soon becomes quite boring once the aliens start appearing in Abby’s dreams and quite frankly don’t do much. There are no special effects to speak off and the alien characters are quite poor.

The blurb for the film led me to believe it would be chilling and tense but I found none of that so was quite let down. In my opinion it is just another run-of-the-mill made for television sci-fi that could have done so much more.
