Set in the year 2192 Earth is uninhabitable and everybody is living on Space Stations. With her 8 year old son diagnosed with a deadly illness, The Syndrome that only affects children and kills them before they are 9 years old, Devon Adair (Debrah Farentino) and The Eden Project start off on a mission to find a new Earth-like planet to save him and the other children. With the government delaying their progress she decides to launch their mission earlier than planned as they received information that the government was going to stop them by killing them all.
After leaving the space station and travelling for 22 years in a sleep state they crash land on the wrong side of a planet called G889 and on their travels across the planet find that it is already populated by several strange species.
The government has plans for the planet but that means that have to find a way of killing all the inhabitants without killing the planet. They plan on settling on the planet and re-populating it with the human race at the expense of the native population of the planet.
Overall, Earth 2 is a very enjoyable sci-fi series with good, strong acting by the lead characters. At times it can be a little bit slow with nothing actually happening (it is spread out over 21 episodes so this has to be expected) but does not spoil the enjoyment of the series.
A must for any lovers of sci-fi programs and at nearly 17 hours it is excellent value for money.
