As we drive past Caird Park most days, it was difficult not to notice the circus was in town!  I haven’t been to the circus since I was a child, but this seemed like a great opportunity to take our 4 year old son out for a treat.

When we arrived at the circus, we came through the foyer area. Here you could buy soft drinks, hot dogs, candy floss, popcorn etc… Of course my husband opted for the biggest box of popcorn at £5, which was more than ample for 3 people, we also bought our son a spinning light up toy which was £6 which he absolutely loved, but made us glad we hadn’t brought our 2 year old twins, as it would’ve cost us a fortune.

Seats are in unreserved areas, we were shown to the area by hosts, and then picked our seats for the best view we could get.

The show was opened by Spanish Award Winning Clowns, Los Remaches, who delivered a cabaret themed slapstick routine. They also provided crowd entertainment in between set changes for the different performers.

The circus troop is made up from acts from different countries, who each performed a routine in the first and second half.

Matrix Troupe Julio from Bulgaria came out with some martial art style acrobatics much to the delight of the audience, and my little boy who kept shouting “wow, that’s amazing”

This was followed by Keyla Ramache the gyrating Spanish Hula Hoop Queen. It made me dizzy just watching her, I struggle to keep one hula hoop up at the gym, and she was spinning about 10 at one point, a faultless performance. Then a male/female juggling act, who effortlessly passed batons back and forward, and also a metal frame spin performance, which was dazzling.

Some others acts included:

Romanian husband and wife high wire team, the wife wore a safety wire for most of the performance, but he looked like he could live on a high wire! Performing amazing stunts, including riding a bike, and walking on the high wire with stilts on!

Hungarian duo Zel & Zorka, who excelled at hand balancing acts, these are two strong guys with amazing balance.

Denisa & Aurel aerial strap sensation from Bucharest, performing mid-air acrobats assisted only by straps and each other.

The finale of the evening was The Diamond Duo from The Czech Republic on the Wheel of Death, the crowd whooped as the giant wheel spun round, the female performing more of a supportive act to the more daring male, who performed on the inside and the outside of the wheel.

But my personal favourite was the African Warriors from Tanzania. Their fun dancing and gymnastics had the audience clapping and jigging along in their seats, or at least I certainly was! The fire limbo routine to Shakira – Waka Waka (This is Africa)… well let me quote my little boy “wow that was amazing!”

Overall, I would give the Continental Circus Berlin a big fat 5 out of 5 for entertainment and value. The 2 hours we were there flew by.

I would definitely recommend catching this tour if you can.
