We were given the opportunity to try the Mighty Wheels Mighty Rally set. My 4-year-old daughter loved it. It has been a really lovely little set for her to play with. She is at the age where she loves anything involving cars, racing and making up her own games, so this was right up her street.
The set includes six race cars, each with a different construction-style design, including a front loader, excavator, dump truck, mobile crane, cement mixer and a steam roller. I actually really like that they aren’t all just traditional racing cars, as it gives children a bit more variety and encourages imaginative play.
The big attraction for my daughter is the soda can launcher. You place a can underneath the launcher and use it to send the cars racing off. She thought this was brilliant and immediately wanted to have races with all six cars. It is very easy for a 4-year-old to use and doesn’t require lots of setting up, which is always a bonus as a mum!
The cars are a good size for little hands and feel reasonably sturdy. My daughter has already had plenty of enthusiastic races and crashes with them and they have stood up well so far. They are also great for independent play, although she particularly enjoys racing them against me or her dad.
I also like that the set doesn’t take up loads of space. There isn’t a huge complicated track to assemble or lots of tiny pieces to keep track of, so it is easy to get out, play with and then tidy away afterwards.
The packaging was also good. Delivery was really fast and the item arrived in a simple recycled box, which I appreciated. There wasn’t lots of unnecessary packaging, which is always a positive.
For a 4-year-old who enjoys vehicles, construction toys and racing games, I think this is a fun set that offers good play value. My daughter has particularly enjoyed choosing which vehicle she wants to race and seeing which one travels furthest from the launcher.
The set is aimed at ages 3+, although as with any toy containing small parts, I would obviously supervise younger children.
This is a fun, easy-to-use racing set that has definitely kept my 4-year-old entertained. The soda can launcher is the standout feature and makes the six little vehicles much more exciting than simply having a collection of toy cars.
Mighty Wheels is really easy for little ones to get the hang of. My 4-year-old loves choosing which vehicle she wants to use and then rolling it around the track, racing through the different sections and seeing what happens along the way. There are lots of opportunities for imaginative play, so she can make up her own races, stories and challenges. I also like that it doesn’t require lots of complicated instructions, meaning she can play independently or we can join in together. It’s a lovely screen-free activity that keeps her entertained and encourages imaginative play, coordination and problem-solving.
