I must say that I didn’t know what to expect as we sat in the Palace Theatre, Manchester waiting for the What the Ladybird Heard stage show of Julia Donaldson & Lydia Monks farmyard adventure book to begin on a sunny Wednesday afternoon. If you don’t know the story, Hefty Hugh and Lanky Len want to steal the farmer’s fine prize cow. But the ladybird hears their plan and comes up with a plan of her own!
This production was charming and very professionally done by the cast of four.
The show is geared towards the younger members of the family. I thoroughly enjoyed all the songs and audience participation which brought a smile to everyone’s faces. The brilliant cast members encouraged everyone to join in and everyone did including me which surprised our little angel!
The show was a little delayed in starting but it flew by which is always a good sign. In fact one little audience member took the participation bit one step further by dancing in the aisles to everyone’s amusement!
All in all “What the Ladybird Heard” is a delightful stage show for younger audiences beautifully carried out by four fantastic actors who really get everyone involved from the word go!
Excellent afternoon’s entertainment all round! The show is aimed at age 3+ and I personally would say age 3-6 would be the ideal age to go see it.
Running time is 55 minutes with no interval.
