I was very fortunate to review the Rat Pack Live last night at my local theatre, The Grove Theatre in Dunstable, and now realise why it’s called the Swingsational Rat Pack Live as sensational is definitely a true description of the entire evening.
I took my Mum and daughter and we was delighted with our seats situated in Row F, what a fab view. The whole evening was perfect, each singer was incredible and brilliant voices along with great sounds from the big band. The singers were that good that if you had closed your eyes you could have thought you was listening to the real trio of Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jnr and Frank Sinatra they was a fabulous tribute to the real deal.
The stage setting was cleverly put together illustrating a scene out of Vegas. The atmosphere and energy in the theatre was breathtaking, the quality of the singing was fantastic and the humour was amazingly funny. Each singer gave banter to each other in between the songs and had the audience laughing and clapping away with a standing ovation at the end. My only disappointment was when the second half finished as we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves listening to each and every song which was all sung so beautifully with charisma and panache.
All the favourite songs were sung including, Fly Me to The Moon, The Lady is a Tramp, Mr Bowjangles and finished off with Final Curtain one of everyone’s favourites. The whole evening brought back some lovely memories as I grew up to my parents playing all the hits and I knew all the words.
Without spoiling the experience, there’s a real eye opener at the end of the evening and my daughter could not stop laughing as this was totally unexpected!
Not to be missed.
