I was recently sent the first disc (3 episodes) of this 3 disc box set for review. It is British drama set in South Africa and is about a British vet who moves his family from England to South Africa to set up a game reserve.

Series seven sees Danny Trevanion (Stephen Tompkinson) and Anders Du Plessis (Deon Stewardson) working for Ed Lynch (Robert Bathurst), owner and chief vet, at Big Five Zoo after being evicted from their game reserve, Leopard’s Den. With the women and children back in the UK they are trying to raise money for a new home.

Christian Peeters (David Butler) is found dead at Leopard’s Den and Du Plessis believes Danny has killed him so hides the body.

They buy some new land which isn’t as great as they thought it would be when they find it was used as an illegal land fill and leaking chemicals are poisoning the wild life.

An opportunity arises to buy back Leopard’s Den but the condition is that they have to buy it as a job lot with another piece, which they cannot afford. On applying for a grant to buy the land and continue their work it sees them having to go into partnership with Big Five’s Ed Lynch.

Overall, from the first 3 episodes this is a good quality drama. It is very well acted and the story lines are great. Set in wonderful landscapes this high quality drama is moving and at times funny with its light humour throughout. I recommend watching this and can’t wait to see the rest of the series.

Rating: 5/5
