Private members clubs in London aren’t a new thing. Highly prized institutions such as Soho House, Shoreditch House and the Century Club have been around for decades, and in March of this year, London’s newest private members club opened its doors – Shoreditch Arts Club. Located in the iconic Tea Building, Shoreditch Arts Club offers members a kitchen, bar, café, a screening lounge, a 24-seat cinema and not one, but two private hire rooms. The space itself is absolutely stunning too. Designed to make you feel like you’re stepping into the home of an art collector, upon entering, you’re surrounded by unique environments that spark your curiosity and make you appreciate the beauty of art.

In terms of fees, membership costs £750 per year (plus a one-off joining fee of £150). While this may seem pricey, compared to other private members clubs, this is incredibly reasonable for the quality of the space, amenities and the location.

Members also gain exclusive access to an epic events program that’ll keep them on their toes. And let’s not forget about brunch and dining! They’ve got some seriously mouthwatering treats waiting for you. From delectable dishes to killer cocktails, this place knows how to please your taste buds – some of which I was lucky enough to try as part of this review.

At first glance, the menu at Shoreditch Arts Club is a true culinary Mediterranean masterpiece, offering a delightful array of dishes. From the aromatic rosemary focaccia to the melt-in-your-mouth pulled pork on toasted focaccia, every item on the menu is crafted with precision and brimming with flavour.

First to the table were the rosemary focaccia, pumpkin and sunflower seed hummus and the Padron peppers with miso. The rosemary focaccia was a perfect harmony of lightness with a herb-infused aroma. Each bite revealed a fluffy interior complemented by a crisp, golden crust, making it an ideal choice for bread lovers. The hummus had a unique twist on traditional hummus combining the rich, earthy flavours of pumpkin with the nutty crunch of sunflower seeds. The velvety smoothness of the hummus paired with the subtle sweetness of pumpkin created a delightful contrast that was both satisfying and addictive. And for those seeking a touch of Asian fusion, the Padron peppers with miso are a must-try. The blistered peppers retained a hint of crunch while the umami-packed miso glaze added a delightful depth of flavour. Yum!

Next up, we had the cured sea trout, yoghurt, mint and black olives. The tender fish was cured to perfection, retaining its natural flavours while being enhanced by the creamy yoghurt, refreshing mint, and briny black olives.

Following on from the elegant trout dish, we indulged in a creamy, luscious burrata cheese paired with vibrant heirloom tomatoes – a match made in heaven! The creamy centre of the burrata oozed with every slice, perfectly complemented by the sweet and tangy burst of flavour from the tomatoes. This dish is a true celebration of freshness and simplicity.

The two main events were the comforting pearl barley with peas, broadbeans and lovage, and pulled pork on toasted focaccia with lacto-fermented chilli and pickled onions (my ultimate favourite!). The nutty and chewy pearl barley was cooked to perfection, absorbing the flavours of the rich broth. The vibrant green broadbeans added a fresh crunch, making each spoonful a gorgeous mouthful.

The succulent pulled pork mixed with a spicy chilli sauce and topped with tangy pickled onions was absolutely delicious. The combination of tender meat, the fiery kick of chilli, and tangy acidity offered a satisfying contrast of textures which I couldn’t get enough of!

As if the savoury dishes weren’t enough, we then finished off our meal with the Gariguette strawberries, cream and sourdough crumble. The perfect, light, ending to the perfect meal.

Overall, the menu was super impressive, with something for everyone – whether you’re a fan of Mediterranean-inspired flavours or seeking innovative twists, this menu is a treasure trove of culinary delights.

So, if you’re looking for a spot that’s got it all – great food, flavourful drinks, and an artsy vibe – Shoreditch Arts Club is where it’s at. Get ready for an unforgettable experience that’ll leave you wanting to go back again, and again….
