The Woodland Trail Treehouse is part of a lovely wooden range of toys by Tickit owned by Commotion Ltd. I really do like toys that you can build on, if your children or grandchildren really take to something, it’s not just them that enjoys new additions, but you enjoy watching your little people adding and creating new play with a toy they already have.

We have four grandchildren with three of them being under five. They all enjoy role play, but weirdly the boys more than our granddaughter. One in particular is autistic and has a love for anything animal related. He is absolutely enthralled with this set, and I have no doubt will enjoy hours and hours of fun with this set. He has already re-enacted his going on a bear hunt tale up and down the tree house. Seeing our grandchildren really enjoying toys like this is so enjoyable and rewarding. There is nothing wrong with the latest gimmick toys at all, but as I get older I prefer to give toys of some educational value and toys that they can learn from.

This set is very well made and comes with some ladders to access the various levels of the treehouse and a bird, squirrel, owl and a hedgehog. The treehouse is a couple of feet high and couldn’t fit together any easier (meaning Nanny put together herself!) once you have slotted the various pieces together there are just four screws to help hold everything securely in place. If not obvious where everything goes, it does come with instructions. The nice thing is, if like me you’re a grandparent and didn’t want to leave up all the time, you can take apart in no time and put away until the children visit next time. All of the wooden parts have a quality feel to them, albeit they are linearity and easy to handle.

Considering we have four children ourselves, I had not come across the Tickit brand before, and already have my eye on some great additions to the Woodland Trail Treehouse, as they all love animals and the outdoors, so the seasonal woodland trees and the dinosaurs will make a great addition, but also the sensory range looks amazing.

It doesn’t matter what you think as an adult of a toy, the proof is how the children play with it, as we all know they often get more out of a cardboard box than what actually filled it! The boys have sat and played lots with the Woodland Trail House, making up stories and having the animals in various levels. It’s not just about role play, they have learnt the animals, given them names and been on all sorts of adventures, even playing together, which they don’t always do so well!

I would most definitely gift this set, although it’s most suitable for age three years and above due to small parts. The wood is FSC certified which is harvested to benefit communities, wildlife and the environment. We loved it and will most definitely be asking Santa to deliver some additional items form the range to compliment the Treehouse. It’s a great addition to Nanny and Grandad’s toy box!
