Woodcraft Tower Bridge Model Review

Reviewed by Debbie Talbot

My family, being from Luton, love the fact that London is so close by. My teenage daughter enjoys trips to the West End for the theatre or shopping in all the cosmetic stores. I love exploring London myself when I pop down to either of my university campuses. My 7-year-old twins love Big Ben, the Tower of London etc. That said, on a recent trip to London they seemed to get most excited about the various bridges in London, my niece and sister are the same. They absolutely love Tower Bridge, I think they get that from my dad. As children we used to go on trips abroad and look at various bridges and tunnels. I therefore jumped at the chance of reviewing this Quay Woodcraft Tower Bridge Construction Kit. It arrived in perfect condition, well packaged in a cellophane type wrapper. It’s suitable for age 7+, so for a wide age range.

To build the bridge you pop the various pieces out. I was a little bit worried that the pieces might be flimsy, but I need not have worried at all. The pieces are good quality and robust, made from 100% responsibly sourced wood and pre-cut so that the pieces slot together. The kit is even FSC certified, so anyone purchasing it knows that it is environmentally friendly.

The numbering system provided with the kit is easy to follow. I think that is is a good idea that you organise the pieces beforehand according to where they go. Its great fun working out which piece goes where. It’s also something you can put down and come back to. Even if you make a mistake, part of the fun is working out where you have gone wrong. I think that it helps develop determination and resilience. The pieces are the ideal size for small hands alike and I think will help develop fine motor skills. If you then fancy rebuilding it, you could always take it apart and rebuild it again at a later date.

I think that this is a fantastic activity to get several generations of your family involved. I really love this product. I already have my eye on other models within the Quay series, The Eiffel Tower and Big Ben.

This would make a wonderful Christmas gift idea for that child or big kid in your life. I think that the price is amazing value too for what you get. I can see several models in this range having pride of place in our family living room in the years to come.
