Valentines Day is here again and its time to show the one you love how much you care. I love to give a personalised gift whenever I can.  It shows you have really thought about the recipient and there are a huge range of products out there to choose from.

It’s Valentines Day though and who doesn’t like a traditional chocolate gift.  I know I would be more than happy to receive one, so, what could be better than a personalised chocolate gift.  Toblerone go one step further and not only have a personalised chocolate bar they also produce a personalised poem to go with it and I was lucky enough to be sent one to try out.

When the Toblerone arrived, it wasn’t just a small snack bar but a giant 360g triangle of chocolate which should be enough to satisfy the most avid chocolate lover. The bar itself comes in the standard gold and red box but it’s sheathed in a very romantic looking pink, red & gold cardboard sleeve which really elevates the packaging to something special. To make it even more unique, my name filled one of the three sides, written in a lovely vibrant green. On the third side was the link to the poem, with the words “Roses are red, violets are blue, I wrote a poem, just for you” accompanied by a QR code and an alternative unique number and letter code. I must admit with loads of packaging covered in codes these days it was quite easy to miss, and you may need to prompt the recipient to check for their poem.

Finding the poem was extremely easy.  I just opened the camera on my smart phone, pointed it at the box and the poem jumped onto my screen. Keep the volume up as it will be read out aloud to you. I was disappointed to find the poem quite generic, so headed to the website to see how you build your own poem. Setting up the poem was really simple and was generated after just a few questions, starting with your name, or you can be a secret admirer, the recipient’s name, which Toblerone you like, white, fruit and nut etc, and your relationship, there is a choice of 5, friendship, true love, parental figure, close kin and budding love. Then you add three words of your choice about the personality of your recipient, eg they are funny or kind, and lastly something that makes them unique such as their dress sense, press next and the website generates a poem for you. It initially read a bit stilted, but you can edit at the end to make it flow better.

Once edited you can send the personalised Toblerone bar straight to your recipient.  Delivery is free, but it is a bit pricey at £17.00 compared to a standard bar.  It’s unique though and certainly something different.  If you are looking for a gift for a chocolate lover but like your presents to be bespoke the Valentine’s Toblerone is a great option. The packaging is very eye catching and the poem is a really nice touch. Its easy to design and send, I would say suitable for anyone to do as the website guides you through and the resulting items are a fabulous and thoughtful gift to receive in the post from your loved one.
