We had an overnight stay at the new Travelodge Kings Lynn Hotel which is situated half a mile from the town centre and the SatNav postcode address took us straight there. Parking was free and plentiful and we parked directly opposite the main entrance which was convenient with a small child and cases.

The small lobby was unmanned when we got there but we rang the bell and a member of staff appeared very quickly to check us in. They couldn’t have been more helpful and friendly as were all the staff that we saw including the cleaning and desk staff.

We found our room easily which was clearly directed and I noticed the help available for disabled or wheelchair users. The room was lovely, fresh and clean and was much bigger than I expected. We had a family room that was ample big enough for our four year old and husband and myself. The room was nicely presented and all white bed linen and towels were clean and fresh. The bathroom was very clean and had new shower over bath facilities along with hand soap, hair and body soap in canisters on the walls.

The television was a great size and had plenty of channels available. The bed was a very generous King size and the pillows and duvet and linen were of a high quality.

Room literature told us about additional late room checkout, hairdryers and irons at request and a cot booking service for younger children that was available. You could order breakfast boxes at reception as the hotel does NOT have bar, café or restaurant facilities. It did however have a Hungry Horse chain pub a two minute walk away which we ate at and thought was perfectly acceptable but clearly gets very busy and please note that it doesn’t open for breakfast until 10am at weekends. Because we wanted breakfast a little earlier we were recommended by the hotel desk staff to a Whetherspoons in town that was a 5 minute drive away and was very good value, we all had breakfast for about £15 and had a nice walk around Kings Lynn whilst we were there.

The tea and coffee making facilities were good and we were told at check in that we could help ourselves to anything from the replenishment counter including tea, coffee, sugar and milk.

The cost of this family room at £50 (£53 with wifi) is extremely good value for a weekend night booking and I would highly recommend it. Checking out time was 12 noon and you could put your key card into the desk slot so no hanging around! Kings Lynn offers some wonderful shopping, eating out venues and the architecture is beautiful. I would certainly go back there and think that our stay was very pleasant, easy and we thoroughly enjoyed it!
