What do you buy for the person who has everything? It’s SO hard! They either treat themselves throughout the year, thwarting any chances you may have of creating any sort of gift list, or they ‘already have it’. Incredibly frustrating, and even more so when it comes to Christmas. I mean, socks are boring, and while chocolate ticks a lot of the boxes, it doesn’t really last.

However, if your friends and family are anything like mine, during the festive season, it isn’t unusual for a cheese or two to be brought out after dinner – and why not? Tis the season, after all, and what would make a perfect accompaniment for that tasty cheese? A cheese plate, of course. When it comes to kitchen or dinnerware, Viners, a household name for over a century will offer you some inspiration with their 5 piece cheese serving set.

Their beautiful gift set includes:
– 1 x Hard Cheese Knife
– 1 x Soft Cheese Knife
– 1 x Flat Cheese Chisel
– 1 x 13cm Cheese Fork
– 1 x Stone Board 25cm x 20cm x 1.5cm
– 1 x magnetic knife block

The serving board is made from a quality white marble – very in-vogue at the moment – and is the perfect size to house a substantial cheese board. The stone design also means that the cheese will keep cool, without being too cold (especially for your softer cheeses!). At 25cm by 20cm it is also super easy to store alongside your chopping boards.

The knifes themselves are small, but of super-high quality, complete with wooden handles and the trusted Viners logo etched into the stainless steel blades.

Each knife has its own particular use too. The hard cheese knife is 12.5cm, and features a weighty, well-made blade that can easily slice through even the hardest Gruyere, while the soft cheese knife, has a sharp thin blade so that sticky soft cheeses, like Camembert or Roquefort, can slide off with ease. The flat cheese chisel, on the other hand, can be used to cut slices off crumbly or aged cheeses, and the cheese fork can be used to pick up the fruits of your labour of the other knives.

The knives can also be stored using the handy magnetic block, that’s also provided as part of the set. It’s not bulky and definitely makes for easy storage and is also a great way to present the knives.

The only downside of the set I can find is that it’s all handwash only. Definitely not the end of the world though and will ensure they last. Speaking of which the full set also comes with a complete 2 year guarantee – perfect for ‘just in case’.

So, don’t ‘Brie’ a Grinch – why not make someone’s Christmas and gift this gorgeous set to someone you love this year. It’s also currently on sale from Viners website, reduced from RRP £30.50, down to the bargain price of £24.40. (editor’s note – at the time of writing the review) It’s almost too ‘Gouda’ to be true! Whether it’s for the foodie of your family, or your cheese-fiend of a husband or boyfriend, you should consider this luxurious 5 piece cheese set from Viners as a potential present.
