The Wimpy Kid Movie Diary by Jeff Kinney Review

Reviewed by Meghan Davis (Age 9)
The Wimpy Kid Movie Diary is all about a boy named Greg who is just about to start Middle School (Westmore Middle School). His mum has bought him a diary to write down his feelings about starting middle school and his experiences.
The characters in the story are Greg, his mum, dad, older brother Roderick (who always plays tricks on Greg), his baby brother Manny and his best friend Rowley.
Greg thinks he is old enough to start high school but doesn’t think his best friend Rowley is but does not want to leave him on his own at their new school.
The story starts with Roderick playing a trick on Greg by changing all the clocks in the house and him waking Greg up in the middle of the night, making out he is going to be late for his first day at his new school!!.
Both Greg and Rowley are desperate to fit in at school and make lots of friends so they try wrestling and walking the kindergartens home to see if they will make new friends.
One day when the friends are playing in the snow, Greg throws a ball at Rowley to catch while he is sledging down the hill, however the sledge crashes and Rowley breaks his arm. At school Rowley attracts new friends as they all feel sorry for him and want to sign his cast but still no one wants to be friends with Greg.
Greg makes friends with a boy named Fragley and has a sleepover at Fragley’s house to make Rowley jealous but nothing works.
As the days go on, the boys are still not speaking and Greg is still finding settling into Middle School really tough.
What will happen next?, Will the boys ever make up and become friends again?.
This book is really good as it explains not only parts of the story from the movie but how it was all made and bought together. I never wanted to put the book down as I was intrigued as to what was going to be on the next page!
I had never seen the movie before but after really enjoying this book, I went out and bought the movie on DVD and absolutely loved it. I can’t wait to read the other books in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series.
