From the first page this book had captured me and I couldn’t put it down.

The story is told from Emma’s viewpoint and is very credible. A family is torn apart by the death of oldest brother Kit, Jamie the middle child leaves home the day of the funeral and never comes back. So teenager Emma is left to pick up the pieces of her shattered parents (Rose and Joe) lives. All while never really knowing exactly went on in the lead up to the tragedy. The truth has been kept from her and everything has fell apart.

Some chapters are painful to read but there are welcome touches of humour added and they lighten up a deeply moving account of a family affected by the difficult subject of depression. It blew me away and made me think about my own family and what would happen if we went through such a tragedy.

I will be watching out for Rebecca Wait in the future. It is truly moving and had me in tears on many occasions.

A wonderful read.
