Island Paradise is an eagerly awaited 10th expansion pack for the Sims 3 franchise. In this latest expansion pack the Sims have moved to their very own Island Paradise, with sunny beaches, deserted islands, underwater worlds to explore and build not to mention the mermaids!
Perhaps the biggest and most exciting addition to this expansion pack is the ability to dive into a magical world, with caves to explore, fish and rare shells to catch and mermaids to meet. This is definitely a new experience for the Sims and gets some getting used to at first as you navigate round the new underwater world but there is plenty to do in the underwater world – just be careful to return to land before your air runs out!
A new element to the Island Paradise EP is the ability to build and run your own resort, there are existing resorts to turn from dives to 5* havens or you can build your own. Learn how to make your guests happy by adding swimming pools, hot tubs, upgrading accommodation or adding dim sum and sushi to the menu. This part of the game is good fun even building up resorts as a career isn't too demanding and there is still plenty of time to enjoy other elements of the game.
There are new Sims in town in the form of mermaids, these aquatic beauties love eating kelp and fish and need to be kept hydrated but can live on land or in water. They can also have relationships with land Sims with a 50/50 chance of having merbabies!
Another fun feature of this expansion pack is the ability to build and live on Houseboats and set sail between islands or even discover your own unchartered island. This game also takes some of the adventure play seen in the World Adventures to allow Sims to follow in game challenges to unlock other islands to explore and inhabit.
Overall this expansion pack certainly lives up to the pre-game hype and ranks up there with the best of them, plenty of new features that enhance gameplay, a whole host of new custom content and an interesting new world to explore. The only downside is that the game is still a bit buggy as seems to be normal with new Sims games, hopefully these glitches will be ironed out shortly as this expansion pack is certainly one I will be playing for a long time yet! Without doubt a 5 out of 5 star game!
