The Reef 2: High Tide is a fast paced action CGI animated film that is perfect for the whole family this half term.
Pi (Drake Bell), the little orange guppy, is back and has to see off the bullying Troy (Donal Logue) again! It’s been a couple of years since Pi first defeated Troy, a nasty, villainous shark, and he is quite happily living in the reef with his wife Cordelia (Busy Philipps) and their son Junior (Frankie Jonas).
Troy in the meantime has been captured and held by a naval research facility and lives in a cage where he is pumped full of steroids making him much bigger than before. But everything is about to change when Troy forces Ronny (Jamie Kennedy) to free him.
Now Troy is free he teams up with several up his friends and wants revenge against Pi and plans to destroy the reef. In 4 days the tide will change from low to hide giving Troy and his gang access to the reef to reap their revenge but in the meantime he sends in Ronny to sabotage any plans Pi and the inhabitants of the reef may have to defend themselves.
Pi as leader, after already beating Troy once, decides that he will train them all to defend themselves but this isn’t working out well and Ronny persuades them to put on a show in the hopes of attracting humans.
Pi is frustrated and after talking to Nerissa (Rob Schneider), the turtle, comes to the conclusion that if everybody uses the special skills that all have and working together as a team they should be able to fend off the sharks attack.
Overall, this is a great film that kids and adults will love (it has jokes that will appeal to all age groups). I have never seen the film but it didn’t make any difference to the plot of this film as they main bits that you needed to know were explained throughout.
The animation, characters and voices are great and with the bright and vibrant colourful animation it will hold children’s attention and the story is great for children and adults. Lots of moral messages are created within the film teaching children trust, friendship, teamwork and believing in each other.
I really enjoyed the watching and will be great for a trip to the cinema this half term. Not only a good film for the kids but they will also leave the cinema with the message that everybody is good at something and if we believe in each other and work together anything can be achieved. Definitely worth watching.
