The Eagle is part of a chain called Geronimo Inns. They have over 30 pubs, in and around London, serving good quality food and drink.

The Eagle itself has a large beer garden, with an outside bar named the 'Baby Eagle'. This is where the Summer Soiree was located, from 6pm until 8pm.

There were large colourful bean bags, deck chairs and fun outdoor games arranged on the very well maintained lawn. Throughout the night waiters brought around snacks, drinks and banter.

As you reach Askew Road, you can immediately see The Eagle amongst newsagents and convenience stores. With a row of trees along the front, the inside remains a secret until the moment you open the door. From the instant you step inside, you feel the buzz that is The Eagle. Within thirty seconds I saw busy but smiling staff, customers relaxed and laughing and very well presented food.

We made our way straight to the garden and were greeted warmly by staff who explained that food would be brought round and to relax. Now settled in the deck chairs, we enjoyed the drinks that were served quickly and soaked up the atmosphere. We were approached by an eccentric looking magician, who showed us a few ‘wow’ tricks.

The summery smell of the barbeque meant our mouths started to water, just as a waitress offered us our first taste of The Eagle’s cuisine.  Lamb kofte kebabs drizzled with yoghurt dip and sesame covered scallops with a side of soy sauce. Both were delicious and left us yearning for more. Shortly after, we tasted barbeque chicken, ribs, mussels and chicken kebabs. All tasted divine and were washed down with a ‘man pimms’ described as a stronger alternative to Pimms, which we very much enjoyed.

By this point, it had clouded over and become a bit chilly so we moved to the heated hut, furnished with cushions and blankets. There, we were served a small yet very satisfying chocolate desert. Presented in an espresso cup on a saucer, it looked like a coffee and was not what we expected, but that too was amazing!

At around 7:45, a representative from Lush offered a hand massage which was… well….. lush!

Throughout the whole event we were made to feel very comfortable, well looked after and blessed to be part of such a wonderful evening. We were so relaxed that it felt as though we were in a friend’s garden. The only thing missing was the sun. As amazing as the staff were, I do understand that that they can’t control the weather! So The Eagle gets a perfect 5 stars from me and I’ll definitely be making the three hour round trip to visit again.
