The Car is a 1977 cult-classic, supernatural horror film that has been remastered for Blu-ray. On 15 July 2013 The Car, often referred to as Jaws on Wheels, starring James Brolin is released worldwide.
A mysterious black car deliberately knocks two cyclists off their bikes and then runs over a hitchhiker several times killing them all. A police investigation is started in the small desert town of Santa Ynez. With the murder of a town sheriff Captain Wade Parent (James Brolin), making it 4 murders in one day, he vows to catch the killer no matter what it takes.
The Car then goes on a murderous rampage killing other sheriffs and trying to kill the local schoolchildren and their teachers rehearsing for a parade. They manage to save themselves by taking refuse in a cemetery where the car will not cross the boundary.
The Car is hunting down and killing anybody that disrespects it and Wade has to find a way to get rid of this murderous car that appears to have no driver at the wheel leading to a showdown in a desert canyon with an explosive and fiery end.
Overall, a great, enjoyable classic horror film filled with thrills and suspense with some humour. The great desert scenery is the perfect backdrop for the murderous, slick and solid brute of a car. Filmed and directed in a way to get the maximum suspence without going over the top.
With a great cast and stunts (not computer generated), it is a great film to own for all horror and thriller fans.
