The Aspley Huddersfield Review

The Aspley

We arranged to go to the Table Table pub restaurant, The Aspley, in Aspley, Huddersfield on Saturday 12th October for lunch. We don’t often go out for meals as a family so this was something I was really looking forward to. The Aspley is situated on the edge of Huddersfield ring road next to the big Sainsbury’s and on the same site as a big Premier Inn. As it is central Huddersfield the parking is pay and display so you need £2 but this is refunded off your bill when you give them your parking ticket. It sits on the canal by the narrowboat moorings so even being so near the ring road it’s a pleasant situation and the boats are great to watch.

My husband and children arrived first as I was caught up at work so running a bit late, they were sat down promptly at a table overlooking the marina where my girls could spot the boats and ducks and the girls were given monster activity packs and crayons to keep them occupied. Once I arrived our order was quickly taken, the girls chose pizza and chips off a good children’s menu that included macaroni cheese and pasta as alternatives to chips or sausages. The adult menu was fairly extensive covering most popular “pub grub” meals, and after some debate both myself and my husband ordered burgers, mine the barbeque and Chris’s the double stacked.

The food was prompt, hot and tasty, the waiters were brilliant and quickly caught on to the bacon on the pizza being “ham” to the girls. They were unobtrusive but quick to notice if drinks were empty and offer refills. The portions were generous and the kid’s meal would have done my girls twice over and are more than adequate for an older child. Despite being slightly full we decided to tackle the desert menu, the girls both chose the Chocolate Challenge a fab desert of chocolate sauce with marshmallows, brownies and icecream to dip into it, Chris had an Oreo tart and I had a honeycomb sundae. The deserts were lovely though resulted in my only complaint… they don’t do the chocolate challenge in adult size!

When it came to paying the bill the waiter brought us a loyalty card and explained their loyalty scheme where if you join you get a voucher for a free meal on your birthday and can collect points on every visit, and they reminded us to give them the car park voucher so we could get the cost taken off the bill.

We will definitely be going back, the staff were so friendly and good, the restaurant was child friendly without having toys etc everywhere and all in all we had a really good time.

Rating: 5/5
