The Sugar Shed Postcode Map Chunk Review

Reviewed by Emma Rogers

Father’s Day is not long around the corner, and if you’re anything like me, you’ll struggle to find something at all let alone something original.  The Sugar Shed has a plethora of not only gift items but they are delightfully quirky and guaranteed to make a great present for anyone in the family.

I chose the Postcode Map Chunk – so called a ‘chunk’ because it is literally a chunk of wood measuring 15 centimetres by 15 centimetres and 2 centimetres thick. The front of the hanging displays the ordinance survey of any area you choose – you give the company a postcode when you order and they us it to centre the print for you. It’s surprising seeing the area you live (or somewhere you love) in a map form you don’t often see. The size makes this a good gift to send through the post, or of you want to create a gallery effect on a wall, you could order several chunks and arrange them accordingly. I’m thinking it could be a good wedding present as well, with a honeymoon destination? There’s an attachment on the back to affix it to the wall, saving you a lot of time and trouble, but I like this as a desk decoration for dad for Father’s Day. Perhaps the postcode area of a favourite holiday destination, or the map of where Dad grew up? It’s fairly heavy for a small piece of wood too.

The detail is a little difficult to read on the front, and I would have liked this to have been a bit bigger, hence it’s more suitable to be a desk ornament or a postal gift. It’s well made though and makes a great talking point in the hallway, which is where I’ll be keeping mine.
