I went with my 5 year old daughter to see the Octonauts and the Deep Sea Volcano Adventure Live yesterday afternoon at the New Victoria Theatre in Woking. My daughter regularly watches the Octonauts on CBeebies so was super excited to be going to see them.
The story follows the Octonauts on an adventure through the deep sea where they meet a tortoise and other sea creatures. The story starts in the Octopod and they encourage the kids to join in and drive the Octopod with the actions they teach them. The show was full of adventure with plenty of interaction and audience participation, they did a brilliant job of bringing the cartoon to the life.
The stage show with brilliant, costumes that really looked like the characters on TV and they also sounded realistic to. The best scene for me is when the fish swim around and the stage is black so it has a brilliant affect with just brightly coloured fish. There was plenty of singing with my daughter.
We thoroughly enjoyed the show which lasted about 90 minutes with an interval halfway through when you then get the chance to go by ice cream, but at £4 for a small tub I thought that was rather expensive and this was the only thing that let our outing down. I’ve been a few times now to this theatre and always find it to be one of the best around with easy parking and located in the Peacock shopping centre is makes it very stress free to get to.
We would definitely recommend this show for any family and fans of the Octonauts, you won’t be disappointed, my daughter hasn’t stopped talking about this show.
The Octopod has now departed from Woking but continues its tour until 5 July 2015. For more information, tour dates, venues or to book tickets visit www.octonautslive.co.uk.
