Enjoy a Spring Tipple with Tesco Review

Reviewed by Julie Jessup
I was very happy to be chosen to review 2 different bottles of alcohol from Tesco. I was able to choose from a list of four and I decided on a bottle of Tesco Finest Vina Del Cura Rioja 2015 (RRP: £8.50), a product of Spain, and a bottle of Limehouse Rhubarb and Ginger Gin (RRP: £17).
Tesco Finest Vina Del Cura Rioja

My daughter really enjoys a nice Rioja and she said this bottle was very pleasant. It tasted more expensive than it actually is. It comes from an award-winning winery Baron De Ley.
This full-bodied Rioja was produced from Tempranillo grapes that were hand harvested in September, crushed and then a 7-day maceration takes place with twice a day pump-overs. The vilification goes on for 14-days in stainless steel at 29 degrees Celsius. It is then aged in oak barrels for 18 months and 24 months in the bottle. It has an intense flavour of raspberry which my daughter could taste. It was enhanced with oak and spice. My daughter said this Rioja would be best accompanied by a meal of beef. I am not a red wine drinker however I really enjoyed a glass and it is a bottle I would purchase in the future.
The winery was founded in 1985 by a small group of professionals. Their aim was to develop and implement a new style of modern Rioja wines. The winery is located in Rioja Baja on Alluvial soils, which are rich in clays and limestones. A lot of work goes in to making this Rioja perfect.
You can keep the wine bottled for 3 years. It comes in a recyclable glass bottle and is corked.
The bottle contains 10.5 UK units per bottle and is 1.8 UK units per 125ml glass.
The cost of the bottle is £8.50 for 75cl
It is definitely worth 5 stars.
Limehouse Rhubarb and Ginger Gin

I found the Limehouse Rhubarb and Ginger Gin delicious, one of the best I have tasted. It was sweet and refreshing ideal to accompany a summer barbecue. The ginger gave it a warming feel, but the ginger taste was not overwhelming, it really complimented the rhubarb. It would make an ideal long drink with ice and tonic water. I did try it straight but preferred it with tonic. Both me and my daughter enjoyed our gin night in our new gin glasses that are more like goldfish bowls! It has been hand crafted using the finest botanics.
This gin has been inspired by the colourful history of London’s East End and is produced in the UK.
The bottle contains 26.3 UK units per bottle. The 70cl contains 28 servings, depending on your serving size! It is 37.5 per cent volume.
Gins have become so popular and you can get just about any flavour I really do recommend this one.
The cost of the bottle is £17 for 70cl.
Both of these bottles would be ideal gifts to give to your mother or grandmother for Mother’s Day or they would make a wonderful substitute from the usual Easter Eggs as an Easter gift.
So worth 5 stars.
