We headed to the Royal & Derngate last night to watch The Full Monty. Don’t waste time reading my review, this show is only on until Saturday 19 January buy your tickets now!
It’s proper funny, proper down to earth, proper proper hot! If ever there was something to brighten a dull dreary January, it’s this show. No singing, no dancing, gritty storyline, great butts, what more could you want. Oh god yeah, you sure get that too!
Following fairly true to the infamous film, The Full Monty sure does deliver. Not just for the ladies, star of the show Gary Lucy, although what’s not to like about his bloke!
I loved the set, it adapted so easily to the story, it was a fab backdrop to the story. Set in Sheffield it follows the story of a group of men out of work and desperate. If you haven’t seen the film (surely not) then I won’t spoil the storyline. Even though at times hard hitting the laughs were plenty. It’s a man’s story with a girl’s sense of humour. Loved it. Although undoubtedly the star of the show is Fraser Kelly (Nathan) he is assisted by Gary Lucy (Gaz) and Kai Owen (Dave). Unsurprisingly the mostly male cast shines, loved Gerald aka Andrew Dunn, James Redmond (Guy) Joe Gill (Lomper) and Louis Emerick the infamous Horse.
The soundtrack is typical of the era and gets your toes tapping. Not seen a show with such a male cast that worked so well. Loved the show loved the vibe they gave and mostly wished they hadn’t left their hats on! How many nights a week you get to see naked men on stage… book your tickets… in the words of Hot Chocolate You Sexy Thing. No one will leave this show disappointed. Loved it. Have you booked yet??!
Tickets cost from £18 to £45 (booking fees may apply).
