The Circus of Horrors at the Parr Hall, Warrington Review

21 March 2018

Reviewed by Linzie Wardle

The Parr Hall is situated in the centre of Warrington town with close by accessible transport options. The venue was easy to find but parking was quite scarce, definitely get there a bit early so you can get parked up and settled into the venue.

The hall is suitable and well equipped for people with disabilities. Upon arrival to the hall we were greeted by a gentleman who handed both myself and my partner our tickets, we were then shown to our seats. We were situated towards the rear, although we had a great view.

This show starts as it means to go on, loud music, loud acts and large horrors!!

To start with you have a showmaster who narrates the whole show and sings along with a band which on its own makes a good music concert.

Then the other part of the show starts with scantily clad females in abundance doing aerial acrobatics, fire eating and knife throwing! This is merely a warm up as then a very short strongman appears flashing his nether regions at the audience and getting on with the housework that ends with him getting his family jewels ‘stuck’ in the hoover… then he is hanging a cannonball from… you guessed it! It is fun if not uncomfortable to watch!!

A highlight for me were the African tribal acrobats, they could do a show on their own and be amazing to watch!

Then there is sword swallower Hannibal Hellmurto, he takes things to a whole new level and definitely leaves you with a sore throat just watching him! He has a modified body that makes your jaw drop just seeing it!

The band provide a heavy metal soundtrack throughout and scantily clad women are in abundance, the production’s humour emulates the crudeness of the Rocky Horror but it works very well indeed!

The venue serves alcohol and snacks at the interval which after some of the sights you will see then a stiff drink will be needed!

You can even buy official merchandise from the performers which is a nice touch. At the end of the show, the performers greet you as you leave and thank you for attending which I appreciated.

It is definitely entertaining and there are some talented performances, if you want to watch a great show with awesome acts then this is for you!
