Surely lying on a beanbag in an inflatable igloo with a man playing a guitar and making you laugh is one of the best ways to spend an evening? If that’s your sort of thing, then Jay Foreman is well worth a visit this year at The Fringe.

Unfortunately, Mr Foreman seems to be a bit obsessed with his “morbid fascination with the real world” which he insists makes him a bit of a pessimist. Fortunately, for us, this does mean he has some very funny songs such as “Generic Christmas” in which he describes all Christmas films which are essentially the same and make him cringe, also, “Grandma’s Food” which tells us about the odd food (I assume Jay) was served as a child from his Grandma.

Jay clearly has a very quirky imagination if you consider such songs as “Caterpillar Sick”, “Surfin’ With Patricia” and “Grandfather Clock” which the latter is about his Grandfather turning into an actual Grandfather Clock.

Wonderful lyrics and lovely music from Jay Foreman in this show. I was particularly surprised by the beautiful melody of the title song – No More Colours. Well worth buying his £5 album for that song alone.

If like me, you have a fear of being picked on by comedians at The Fringe, do not worry, Jay Foreman seems to be a very nice fellow, and even when people come in late they are given a quick, (very quick) rendition of the songs they missed and not embarrassed much further. Phew.

Jay Foreman – No More Colours is on at The Fringe until the 26th of August 20:45 at The Pleasance Courtyard (See The Fringe website for further details).
