Shnuggle Baby Bath Review

Bath times should be relaxing but for those first few weeks or months with a new born, it can actually prove a stressful time until you have confidence in holding a slippery wet baby! And of course, babies need you to be confident in order to feel safe and secure. Overall I think the Shnuggle Bath has the potential to help make bath times a more relaxing experience.
This is an innovative designed baby bath with some unique qualities and great-looking stylish design. The bath is cosy – a compact, nice size. Whilst firm and quite easy to hold, it is also light and easy to lift and move even when filled with water (something that a normal baby bath isn’t). Consequently, it would also be great to take away with you in the car on holiday, to visit family. Given its small size, it’s also ideal or plenty of willing helpers to fit around the bath.
Its nearest competitor is probably the Tummy Tub, but the Shnuggle Bath is made of a very durable foam material which is softer than the harsher plastics that baby baths are usually made out of. The material is also an insulator and so the water stays at the right temperature for the baby longer.
The baby we tested this bath with was just 3 weeks old and I would actually say that the innovative “bum bump” that is one of the unique features of this bath would actually be better suited to a slightly older baby with better head control. The concept of this bum bump is that the baby’s behind fits behind the bump, with the bump supporting its legs under the knees, leaving you just needing one hand to support baby’s head and the other hand to bathe the baby. For a young baby though, it was quite difficult to hold the baby by the higher end of the bath behind in order to make sure the head was properly supported and to lift baby out, which for first time mums may prove to be a bit fretful. Having said that I can see that this would be a great design for the slightly older baby that has a bit more control of its head and if confident to leave the baby to be supported by the bath, this would work well.
I would definitely recommend this bath for babies who can hold their head up a bit more, so perhaps from about 3-6 months. This bath worked to make bath times a relaxing experience as our little newborn didn’t cry when in the Shnuggle Bath. A cosy, warm bath.
