Horrid Henry’s Christmas Lunch by Francesca Simon Review

I was lucky enough to review Horrid Henry’s Christmas Lunch (Early Readers) by Francesca Simon which also comes with a CD and is read by Miranda Richardson.
My daughter is 4 years old and she loves Horrid Henry on the television. She likes Horrid Henry because she thinks he is funny because she said he is naughty. She was extremely excited when I showed her the book and I said it had a CD to listen to in the car. She couldn’t wait to go out in the car and listen to it.
So the same day we went to visit family and we listened to the CD. I was surprised my daughter really listened to the story. I asked her questions about the story every now and again to see if she was actually listening and she answered the questions correctly. We only managed to listen to half the story on our journey and she was excited to listen to the rest on the way back. The story has a good storyline and a good twist on having a traditional Christmas dinner! The CD had music and sound effects. The CD lasted 37 minutes.
Even though we have listened to the story in car a few times now she still asks to listen to it. I have said she can have it in her room to listen to on her CD player and she was happy about that.
We took the book up to bed to read. The book is nice and bright and the illustrations are on every page which kept my daughter interested and entertained. We laughed at some of the illustrations together and discussed what was happening on each page. The font is big and easy to read.
All in all I think this is a fun book to read and listen to. It was nice to listen to this Christmas and I think she will probably want to dig it again next year! The book does say suitable from 3-6 years but I would say it is suitable from 4-6 years. I think it is a good rrp price of £9.99 as you get the book and CD too.
