I first used a Baby Bjorn on a holiday to Hong Kong when my baby was 4 months old. I borrowed an older model (approx. 7 years) from my sister. The carrier was invaluable in a not so pram friendly city and we used the carrier every day. My baby loved being in the carrier especially as he could see the world from our height. It was also a good position for him as he tended to be sick if lying flat. I found using a carrier for the first time a terrifying experience and it is very important to have confidence in quality of the carrier. Baby Bjorn is a market leader in baby carriers and although not the cheapest, is well worth buying for the added piece of mind. Judging by my sister’s carrier, the Baby Bjorn carriers last for many years and many babies!
Having already been converted to the virtues of baby carriers and in particular, the quality of Baby Bjorn’s carriers, I was interested to see what changes/developments had been made since my sister bought hers 7 years ago.
Although, the basic design/shape of the Baby Bjorn appears unchanged, the features added are substantial. The new Baby Bjorn is an impressive looking carrier. It is made from 100% organically grown cotton and features an “airy mesh” for the comfort of you and your baby. Both mums and dads would be happy to wear this sleek carrier.
It is not only great looking, it has amazing back support and is fully adjustable to compensate for the different height and weight of the adult, it would feel as comfortable on Kylie as it would on Giant Haystacks!
There are two carry positions, baby facing inwards (more suitable for younger babies) and baby facing outwards (for the nosey babies like mine!). The Baby Bjorn Miracle also allows you to adjust the weight distribution, for example you can transfer the weight from your shoulders to your waist or vice versa.
There are pictures on the inside of the carrier to show you how to fit and adjust the carrier. At first these seem mind boggling, but after you have done it once it is easy. I would recommend having another pair of hands to assist on your first attempt though. Baby Bjorn have also added a measurement scale, so that you can set the baby carrier to your child’s approximate length. Previously this was a game of trial and error, so the scale is a real help.
I suffer from back pain and this carrier is a godsend. It allows me to carry my chubby bundle of joy safely, without putting strain on my already weak back. My local train station has no disabled access, so going anywhere by train with the pram is a hassle. The Baby Bjorn enabled me to get out and about to places which were previously off limits due to access issues.
The baby carrier is an essential bit of kit for new mums and dads. I highly recommend the Baby Bjorn Miracle Carrier, you will not be disappointed.
