We entered the theatre dressed and certainly left with a smile!!

Last night my 9 year old daughter and I visited the Kings Theatre in Glasgow to see Nikolai Fosters production of Annie.

We were greeted with much professionalism from the staff, offered drinks at interval and presented with a programme. Our seats were fantastic in the Grand Circle, perfect view of the whole stage with incredible sound! I love the seating in the King’s, plenty leg space, comfortable seats and not too cramped, with a stunning view of the entire stage!

The bar in the King’s is extremely comfortable, only downside not too many seats and not enough toilets as we spent our whole interval queuing, that aside it did not take away from the marvellous American inspired night we thoroughly enjoyed!

The production served the orphan tale well. The audience was packed with youngsters all singing along and the added touch of a real dog added that magical feeling to the night! We eagerly eyed the stage, eyes full of excitement waiting on Sandy running past!!

Elaine C Smith portrayed a fantastic Miss Hannigan, she graced the stage with a presence that made you want to hate her but felt slightly sorry for her by the end! The main stars of the show were the kids. Annie, the orphans, especially young Molly were captivating!! Their stage presence was professional, creative and full of fun and boy can they sing and dance! Each of them brought their own character to life on the stage, pulling in a lot of giggles from the audience.

I was particularly impressed with Alex Bourne who played Daddy Warbucks. His performance was outstanding, he captured our hearts from the start and the relationship on stage with Annie left us wishing he was our Daddy Warbucks!

I must pay homage to the fantastic and creatively different set, made up of clever 1920’s inspired New York jigsaw pieces.

Absolutely must see family show, you will be singing along to the top big numbers, swaying in your seats with the stunning choreography. This show is not to be missed!!
