Lee Nelson Live at The Lowry Manchester Review

After his recent gate crashing incident of the Tory Party Conference and his witty scene of giving Prime Minister, Theresa May her P45, Nelson is back in Manchester on the second leg of his Serious Joker tour.

He arrived on stage dressed in a very tightly fitted suit, complete with security tag and ready to put on a good show.

Nelson, instantly gets started, firstly pulling up the vast amount of late arrivers, using this impromptu material to lead the content of the first half of the show. He did have some repartee with the hecklers from the audience, but this just added to the entertainment value.

The set up was in the smaller Quays Theatre which holds around 400 spectators, and was probably just over half full. Nelson really worked the small audience and tapped into the natural material that came from the interactions.

The second half of the show was even more intimate, with the lights turned on, Nelson fed off the audience and got chatting to 74-year-old Len, who was giving as good as he got and had the audience in uproar.

He also chatted to the “little legends”, a couple of 14-year olds, who were asked what 14-year olds get for their birthday, to which one replied “in Bolton? Drugs” which was very quick witted one liner for a teenager. I think this left Nelson stumped.

The show lasted for around 2 hours including an interval, so there was no time to lose interest.

The night was packed full of topical yet natural comedy.

Overall, we had a really good night and laughed throughout.
