Wanda and the Alien to the Rescue by Sue Hendra Review

Reviewed by Amanda Hayes
My little boy is one this week so got to review this before his birthday bedtime. He really loved the bright colours and the big pages were easy to hold for little hands. The front cover is enticing for little ones with shiny hologram words and flowers.
The illustrations are great fun with good attention to detail and with around fifteen words per page it’s ideal as a bedtime story or for learning to read.
It is a lovely story of losing your mummy and has a happy ending of finding her again, however it was not until I read the back cover it was supposed to be a story about working through differences. I am not sure that really came across in the storyline, it may well come across better in the television series but either way it did not detract from the book at all.
I think that the books will be a perfect addition to the TV series. The characters should work as well on screen as they do in the books and we are looking forward to watching Wanda and her Alien friend have adventures.
Wanda and the Alien to the Rescue was a fun enjoyable read and I’m sure my son will soon be picking it out for me to read to him.
Highly recommended.
