Menkind Hot Chilli Challenge Review

Reviewed by Debbie Talbot

I am a big lover of spicy food. I love making fajitas, chilli con carne, curries etc. from scratch. I was therefore delighted to be given the opportunity of reviewing The Hot Chilli Challenge game from Menkind. It arrived quickly in perfect condition due to being well (but not over) packaged. My teenage daughter spotted the game and decided to play it with her friend. The box makes the game look really appealing. It contains 9x gummy chillies which range from hot to hotter and a spinning wheel which selects various chillies for the players to try out.

To play the game, the first player spins the spinner and then tries to eat whichever type of chilli the spinner lands on. Over the various spins, the girls tried out the green gummy jalapeno – the tongue tingler, the orange gummy jalapenos – super hot and the red gummy jalapenos – the scorcher. There is a heat gauge on the box which indicates how hot (spicy) each type of gummy chilli is.

The girls had fantastic fun playing the game, be it with two massive glasses of water available. Some of the types they did not manage to eat the whole gummy chilli, with others they managed. They had such fun though and found it amusing to watch where the spinner pointer landed and see their friend try to eat the gummy chilli. I am sitting here writing the review, looking at a half-eaten red gummy chilli. This makes sense seen as the red one is described as ‘the scorcher’.

WARNING – Chilli can cause irritation to skin and eyes. Wash hands thoroughly after use. Please also note that the box lists out the ingredients.

I love going into Menkind stores to see which gifts are available for loved ones in my life. I always find the staff knowledgeable, fun and helpful. I love the fact that they often demo toys, giving potential buyers the opportunity of seeing them in action before buying. I may be 45 years old, but I am huge big kid at heart. Every single item we have tried out has been made from quality materials and has provided fantastic play value. Browsing their user-friendly website leaves me spoilt for choice. A certain someone I know has had a huge ever-increasing wish list of Menkind items since discovering the store a few years ago. I am a huge believer that you are never too old to play with toys. I find the new menu option on their website particularly useful for seeing which new items they have available and you can even search by type of product and price range.

The game would make a lovely gift for a teenager. I find my daughter so difficult to buy for.
