As a mother of three girls we have an abundance of plush toys at home. My youngest daughter loves plush toys and has a whole bed full of them so I knew this would be something that would appeal to her. As soon as I opened the box and she saw the Warmies plush platypus inside her whole face lit up and she was immediately taking it out of the box for a cuddle whilst joyfully screeching. After she had a quick cuddle I explained that the platypus could be warmed up. She immediately asked me to put it in the microwave to warm him up. My daughter thought watching the platypus going round in the microwave was hilarious. Helpfully fastened around the platypus neck was a removable Warmies tag which gave instructions on how to warm it in the microwave. It literally took 60 seconds to warm up. Taking the platypus out of the microwave it was lovely and warm but not too hot. I felt comfortable immediately handing it over to my daughter for her to cuddle without fear of it being too hot for her. After taking the platypus out of the microwave the first thing I noticed was how amazing the platypus smelt. It is filled with specially treated organic filling material and dried French lavender. The smell really comes out when it is warmed up and I found the smell really calming and relaxing.
My daughter took the warmed platypus for a cuddle on the sofa and was instantly enamoured by it. Apparently now 3 days later the platypus is her best friend. It’s the first thing she asks for when she comes home everyday and it is warmed up and goes to bed with her every night. She loves cuddling the platypus to her chest when it’s warm and constantly walks around with it. She especially likes the fact that the platypus is weighted and finds that a huge comfort. She can place the platypus on her chest and the weight keeps it in place.
We already own some heated plush packs that were bought for our children a couple of years ago. They are really small though and you have to take out a pack from inside the plush and then replace it back into the plush part after it’s been heated in the microwave. This can be quite difficult when it’s hot. Because of this they are hardly used. The fact that you put the whole plush in the microwave to warm is a real plus. Making it quick and easy to heat. There is a tag on the platypus itself outlining the heating instructions.
An added bonus is that the Warmies Platypus can also be used cold. Simply place it in the freezer to cool. I put it in the freezer and within 30 minutes it was lovely and cool to touch. In summer when the weather is hot I imagine this would be really useful and lovely for kids to cuddle to cool down.
There are several different variations of Warmies plush animals available on prezzybox including lobster, cockerpoo, sloth, frog, koala and bear. So something for everyone.
Warmies platypus plush is suitable for all ages and would make an ideal gift for any child (or adult). It is the size of a proper plush teddy at approx 33cm making it easy for children to cuddle and carry around. The plush is incredibly soft and fluffy with velvet touch feet and bill and the weighted aspect makes it really comforting. Once warmed it is incredibly soothing. It is definitely my daughter’s favourite new plush and she has even named it the very original name of Platypus!
