I was sent this lovely purse to review from Vendula London and as a fan of the character of Sherlock Holmes this was a great choice for me.
Vendula London was launched in 2003 and their website proudly tells the world that they made it their mission to create items which made people ask “Where did you get that bag?”. As a marketing technique that’s wonderful. If you see an eye catching bag which strikes your fancy, or it’s so unusual it makes you wonder if they’d have something to suit you – then half the battle is already won. I took a look at some of their other products on the website and I already have a hankering for half a dozen or so.

I absolutely love the attention to detail which really make this a stand out item in your bag. It’s too pretty to hide. But then I imagine it would be even better inside the matching handbag – also available on the website. Anyway, that aside, it’s a visual and textural treat with soft but sturdy fabrics. Given that Vendula London was branded Most Innovative Handbag Brand 2021 and awarded in the Lux Life Global Vegan Awards they’ve absolutely taken the mission of finding sustainable, animal friendly materials to the next level and found a range of resources which don’t compromise on quality or the details of the pieces.
I always find I have to shop carefully for purses. I need it to meet my needs. I like that this purse is sizeable at 10.5cm x 15.5cm x 1.5 cm. Easier to keep track of at that size whilst small enough to fit in a reasonable sized handbag if you can bear to hide it away. There are three card storage spaces inside the main zip compartment.

There’s also a handy keyring chain which means the purse could be fastened inside a bag for extra security or simply so you can find it in the same place every time.
My only complaint about this item would be the gold embossed details on the back of the purse which states in beautiful lettering “It’s elementary my dear Ratson.” Except the quote, as such, from Sherlock Holmes ought to reference John Watson, not Ratson. Perhaps it’s a copyright issue, I’m not certain. It’s a little disappointing given that the rest of the product is so outstanding. If you can live with it this detail you’ll find it is on the back and less likely to be seen by others.
As purses go this is one of the most interesting looking ones I’ve ever seen. It would make an outstanding gift for a Sherlock Holmes fan of almost any generation. This item in particular retails at £24.00 and with other items in the range up to £115.00. Vendula London dispatches beautifully wrapped items with tissue and boxes with more of their design detail. It’s a pleasure to open and giftable at the outset.

If you have a fan of quirky, bookish or unusual handbags and purses in your life then Vendula London is a great choice for gift shopping. It’s elementary, dear reader!
