Nextbase 422GW Dash Cam Review

I was looking forward to this arriving, I had been thinking about purchasing one for a while but thought they would be hard to use. Looking it up on the Nextbase website changed my decision, it was shown in great photographic detail as well as shown as WHICH? Best buy dash cams June 2019. The 64gb U3 micro SD card can be ordered via the Nextbase website and will record approximately 8 hours of HD footage before the dash cam overwrites the oldest recordings, this also comes in 32gb and 128gb. There are also other accessories that can be purchased such as a carry case, reflective lens cover, reverse clip in camera pus replacement charging wires and mounts.

The camera arrived well packaged, it is touchscreen control and comes with two mounting bases one can be affixed via a 3M sticky pad, and the other is a more conventional suction mount. I personally preferred to use the sticky pad as I never have much luck with the suction mounts, the power cord is connected by plugging in to the mount, not the camera, and the camera is held via a strong magnet, the camera can therefore be easily removed without unplugging any cables. It can also be permanently mounted (with optional hardwire kit) or plugged in via cigarette lighter connector. The handy quick start guide is simple and easy to follow, and includes a QR code to download the Mynextbase Connect app. The installation process only took me 15 minutes.

The camera requires to be paired with a phone to make full use of the dash cam. Can be used with iPhone, iPad, and Android devices. Alexa is just one of the built-in features which gives you the ability to play music, find parking, control smart home devices or check your amazon notifications. It has the ability to automatically transfer videos to the phone. (The camera has G-sensors).

It is still early days in using this but very happy so far with how it operates. The clarity of the videos and the overall look.

This is a great camera, among the best in terms of features and how well it’s designed.

It is great that it can be easily and quickly removed with the magnetic connection to the base even when the base is permanently attached if you don’t want to leave it in your vehicle.

It supports different models of rear-cameras that can be either attached to the camera itself or via a cable to the rear window.

Note: It uses MicroSD cards (not standard larger SD cards), and it does not come with one. If you’re planning on using a rear camera module, you’ll need a ‘U3’ capable card to be able to record HD videos in real-time.

I would highly recommend this product to all my family, friends and anyone else looking to get a dash cam and would rate this as 5/5.
