SmartMax My First Totem Review

I have never seen a toy like this before and I was so pleased to introduce it to my granddaughter.

The My First Totem by SmartMax is really exciting, it is magnetic and you can make loads of different versions of a totem pole also every individual piece does something different.

When I first played this with my granddaughter was mainly watching me. She held the pieces to see what they did and knocked down the totem pole when I built it up. She was quite bemused by the magnetic pieces. She is only 14 months so I thought she might be a bit young. However, when she came back a few days later she went straight to her new toy took all the pieces out of the box and actually made a totem pole herself. I was rather impressed, and she spent the whole afternoon changing them about.

I will explain more about this great product. I know a totem pole seems quite a strange idea for a toy, but it is quite genius. The totem pole has over 24 challenges to create and play with. It includes 8 different building parts that all have different textures, sounds and styles. It comes with challenge cards that you can give to your child and they can try and match the picture on the card.

SmartMax supplies toys and games that are all magnetic they are easy to put together and take apart but are strong enough to bond. They are very colourful, ideal to teach your children their colours, every time my granddaughter picked up a piece, I said the colour. They are also very safe all the pieces are bigger than 3cm so will not fit in your child’s throat. The individual pieces are glued together and ultrasonically wielded, so impossible for even the strongest child to pull apart.

As well as having fun the aim of the collection of toys/games is educational. They help with eye to hand coordination, logical thinking, identifying shapes, counting and creativity.

The first collection is aimed at children 1-5 years old. These include, safari animals, farm animals, dinosaurs, tractor set, animal train and the totem pole. So most of these children can identify with.

Then you have the build collection start, start plus and start XL for ages 1 plus, these sets can be extended so the older your child the more they are able to build. They can just let their imaginations run wild.

Next collection is Play- Ball Runs, for ages 3 plus, this selection has lots of tubes, extensions and ball runs, it looks very exciting.

Lastly the Play Vehicle Collection which includes, stunt cars, power vehicles and Tommy Train again for ages 3 plus.

So many interesting things for your child to build and have lots of fun with.

It is an excellent gift for birthdays and Christmas and will give your children hours of fun. It really is different from any toy I have seen. I am sure once you have one of these sets you will want more, as all of the sets are compatible with others.
