I have never visited the Sir Harold Hillier Gardens before, but I have always heard great things about it. That is why I am so excited to finally experience it for the first time during the Light Up Sir Harold Hillier Gardens event. My daughter has just turned three years old, and this will be our very first light trail together, which makes it even more special.

The light trail runs from 27th November to 3rd January. The light installations transform the beautiful gardens into a dazzling winter wonderland. It features eight themed zones filled with stunning light installations, including lasers, projections, and interactive displays. I’ve read that some of the installations require audience participation, which I think will be magical especially for my daughter.

In addition to the lights, there will be live performances to enjoy throughout the trail. Festive treats will also be available, including mulled wine, hot chocolate, and fire pit marshmallows. This will be perfect for warming up on a chilly evening. It also appears from the website that light up merchandise will also be available to buy. The prices look reasonable for these at under £10. You can buy the merchandise and the festive treats in advance.

A new highlight for 2025 is the “Seasons of Light” installation by Bright Side Studios. This immersive experience uses animation, 3D effects, and cinematic techniques to showcase the beauty of the changing seasons. Since I’ve never attended a light trail before, I’m not entirely sure what to expect, but this sounds absolutely amazing.

Tickets are now available at https://www.lightuptrails.com

The prices start at £12.50 for children and £20 for adults but there are various peak and off peak options available. Family tickets are also available when booking.
