A novelist and his wife are trying to cope with the loss of their 3 year old who died in a drowning accident. In the middle of the night they are woken up by somebody banging on their front door. When they open the door to find out what is going on they are confronted by a young woman claiming that masked men have disabled her car and are chasing her. She seems to know a lot about the family and they think she is some kind of stalker. They decide to let her stay for the night until she can leave safely in the morning but they are soon dragged in the horror of being stalked by men wearing gas masks.
They do everything they can to escape the terror but seem unable to leave the property. Will they survive the night and find their way out or will the men in gas masks get their way?
Overall, I found Static to be a decent supernatural thriller rather than a scary horror. Without saying too much as this would spoil the ending, which brings the whole film together, the storyline at times doesn’t seem to make sense but this all becomes clear once you realise who the masked assailants are and what their goal is.
Chilling and scary at times with a twist to the end that I didn’t see coming even though looking back the clues were all there.
Worth watching.
