We were so excited to try out the John Adams Space Science kit which was perfect for my space and science experiment children, ages 8 & 5yrs. Both could tell you a million different facts about space, with one of them saving up to purchase a flight into space.  On a personal level I love activities for children that promote hands on and STEM learning.

John Adams is a British Company that has over 50 years experience developing and marketing toys and games across the global market. Their aim is to bring people together through play to develop creativity, communication and problem solving skills.

The John Adams website is very easy to navigate, with details on how to order spare parts and find the manuals for the different products that are sold. I think that it is excellent customer service to offer online manuals and to be able to purchase spare parts when needed.  Here is the link to the John Adams website to look for manuals and order spare parts.

The box is very brightly coloured and is decorated in pictures that give an insight to the experiences included. The Space Science Kit includes 12 space experiments which teach about science in a fun hands on way to help.

Our favourite experiments included:
-predicting the moon phases
-make your own moon sand
-rocket launcher

The instruction booklet is very clear and easy to follow, with step by step instructions and diagrams so that you know exactly what you need to be doing. For each experiment it tells what pieces of equipment you need out of the box plus any extra you might need such as vinegar. None of the extra items needed to complete the experiments are costly and you are very likely to have in your cupboard at home.

Within the instruction there are ‘fun facts’ and ‘secret science’ highlights.  We found the instructions easy to follow, with the 8 year old able to complete most experiments with little adult intervention. The recommend age range is 8+ years which I agree with. There are some chemicals involved which I wouldn’t be comfortable with a younger child touching. My 5 year old did enjoy the experiments and enjoyed helping when appropriate.

The Space Science Kit was a lovely family activity that was fun and engaging. The adults enjoyed the experiments just as much as the child and at times had to be reminded who the Space Science Kit was actually for. I am pleased to report that all 12 experiments worked successfully.

Rating: We score the John Adams Space Science Kit 5/5. It is fantastic value with the 12 experiments included and teaches about science in a very fun, engaging and hands on way. I love that the kit promotes STEM activities and develops curiosity. This kit would make a wonderful gift as it is extremely fun and engaging but also educational. Plus you are supporting a British business. Highly recommend

The 8 year old is now saving up for Forensic Science Kit.
