It’s never too early to start thinking about Christmas and whose school-age child isn’t into slime?!

So…. When I was asked to test the Slimelicious Slime’presso Machine – from the So Slime DIY range – I was never going to say no!

It is, as the name suggests, the chance for children to make their very own play slime ‘drink’ by adding exciting elements via the Slime’presso machine into a plastic cup and decorating the end product! What’s so compelling about the set – and so good for children – is that it doesn’t offer instant gratification. There is a bit of work involved to see their result, and that involves them being creative, resourceful, experimental and inventive during their play. There was a genuine sense of awe as the ‘drink’ started to reveal itself and they were able to showcase their creation.

When the Slimelicious Slime’presso Machine arrived I had unpackaged the shipping wrapping and left it on the kitchen table ready for testing with the 5-year-old! On arrival home from school my child’s eyes lit up immediately, and initially they walked around the house clutching the box to their chest, they spent time studying and looking at the new toy, in total awe, in fact like it was a dream come true and all their Christmas’s had come at once!

What I didn’t expect was how quickly it would capture their imagination and excitement as they chatted away about all the creative drinks they were going to make with the Slime’presso Machine. As an adult, observing a child being so enthusiastic about a new toy was so lovely to watch!

The machine (an electronic mixer) comes in a purple and teal colour (both are favourite colours of theirs!) and it is quite a simple but clever piece of kit. Also in the box were 8 Decoration bags, 3 Straws, 5 Slimes (pre-made), 3 Cups, 10 Slime powders, 1 Recipe Card, and an instruction sheet in several languages, as well as a sheet of stickers to label the cups.

However, it must be noted that these cannot be drunk by the child and they are purely for play. The set was extremely easy to use and took minutes to set up, as you just pour your powder out, add some water and mix with your machine (there are 2 x AA batteries provided in the box).

Once your ‘homemade’ slime drink is mixed you have the option to add some “ice cubes”, some pretty decorations and a straw! There is even a plastic lid and a sticker to label the cup – just like ‘Mum’s drink’ from the local coffee shop! And that’s it! Your play slime drink is ready. In some ways, the concept is very simple, but it’s a compact toy, that is creative and is very easy to use with no mess.

You can unleash your child’s ‘inner barista’ and get mixing and creating, choosing between making – Pink Lemon, Ice Dragon or Tutti Frutti, and we all know that slime is just the best.

This is a ‘different’ slime toy, also included are some ready-made slimes, as well as the powders. No fuss and it’s so quick & easy to make, with no mess, the fun extras were a real hit, mixing in the pretty decorations provided enabled the child the opportunity to create even more satisfying slime effects!

This is a toy that is safe for children. It has been safety tested and includes only non-toxic slime. The only warning on the box is that it is not suitable for children under 3 years and it is recommended that children are supervised when playing with the toy.

The Slime’Presso machine kept them so occupied at the kitchen table that I was able to supervise from a distance while I cooked the supper as they got on with playing and creating their ‘special’ drinks. I couldn’t help but notice how carefully they had made each drink with such love and care – and I’d say we have a little barista in the making. They were fascinated by this toy, which is a rare thing indeed!

Our machine is still in frequent use, and they are finding new ways to have fun and keep on creating. Whether it’s making more special drinks, or talking about what she can make next, my little barista has explored so many options. We keep the slime in little sealed pots (these are not provided but we had some that were the perfect size that we use for camping trips) this was so that the slime didn’t dry out and could be used over and over.

In conclusion, I’d give the Slime’Presso machine a high five out of five. It’s a fantastic toy that has brought a lot of joy to our household. My little tester loves it, it’s easy to use, and it’s given them endless entertainment. So this Christmas if you’re looking for a fun, creative, and engaging gift for a child, I recommend the Slime’Presso machine. It’s excellent value for money.

As a parent, I also appreciate the design and quality of the little mixing machine. It’s proven sturdy enough to withstand the inevitable drops and knocks that will come with being handled by a child. It is cute and modern, with retro styling that makes it appealing to both children and adults. It’s also compact and portable, which means it’s easy to take along on camping trips or to the grandparent’s homes without any bother.

The fact that it comes with everything needed to get started, including the batteries and slime, means there are no hidden costs right out of the box, by sealing the slime into little pots and then considering the hours of enjoyment this machine provides, I believe it a worthwhile investment. It’s a gift that keeps on going, providing not just a toy, but an experience that our child has been able to continue to enjoy.

In summary, the Slime’Presso machine has been a fantastic addition to our home. It has captured the imagination of our child and provided endless hours of fun and creativity. From its user-friendly design to the joy of creating and making different concoctions, it certainly appears to have been a versatile and enjoyable toy for my child. I 100% recommend it to anyone looking for a different and engaging ‘slime toy’ gift for children. It’s a product that delivers on its promises and has brought a lot of happiness to our home.
Five out of five stars from me—this Slime’Presso machine is awesome!

My only negative comment would be that the design, colours and packaging are perhaps targeted predominantly towards girls although boys would have just as much fun too, with this toy! Plus providing some little pots to store the slime in would add to its longevity.
