I’m so happy to have been given the honour of being invited to review the Sleeping Beauty Pantomime at the Marina Theatre Lowestoft. We have not lived in the area for very long and found the Theatre a little difficult to find by car, when we did arrive it was lovely to see staff ready to greet us. I had a little look around and it is a lovely theatre and is well equipped for disability which is lovely to see, with plenty of disabled toilets and assistance buttons around if assistance is needed.

The theatre has quite a small seating area so not too bad with the amount of people if you struggle with crowds like my daughter can. It’s a beautiful looking theatre and the seats are very comfy.

They were selling the usual glow sticks and things for the little children or even the big children that have never grown up lol, and I was very happy with the prices.

The show started and we slowly got to meet the characters on stage. The characters were absolutely great and the costumes were wonderful, so much thought and detail went into them. I did feel the beginning was a little slow and needed a little something more for a short time, but not for long, it did pick up and ended up being a great first half.

I was very impressed by the scenery and lighting and special effects. The first half I do feel the best scene was with the dancers with the fairies and the dancers with the light up cloaks. The singing was out of this world and I was extra especially impressed by Katie-Elizabeth Allgood as the Lilac Fairy and Luke Byeford as Dame Dolly and Nicole Faraday as Carabossa.

We really loved the use of well-known songs in the show. I do love a good panto and these as well are so much better when they go more unscripted and unplanned which I’m sure I spotted a few times lol. My daughter loved it when there was even more audience participation and she could get up out her chair and join in which there was a few times. She also really enjoyed seeing little dragon and then the big dragon too.

If I’m picking my favourite character for outstanding acting it has got to be Carabossa, I think the combination of the wonderful acting, costume and script were amazing and of course who doesn’t love a bad guy.

I just also wanted to add how amazing all the little dancers were and how brave they are performing on stage; without all these dancers it wouldn’t be the same.

Ticket prices start from the lowest price start from £14.50 which sell out quickly, it’s definitely a show not to be missed.

It is a great panto to see with lots of little surprises throughout the show so hurry and buy your tickets now! https://www.marinatheatre.co.uk/whatson-event/sleeping-beauty-2025-2026-new/

We loved the show and hope to see more in the future. I give this pantomime 4 out of 5
